Dorothy “DD” A. Matzz
Dorothy “DD” A. Matz is a member of the Woodberry board of trustees and the mother of three Woodberry graduates. She attended Foxcroft School in Middleburg, VA before earning her undergraduate degree at Princeton University. She has devoted her professional life to breeding and racing thoroughbreds and has deep roots in the racing and ranching businesses. Her husband, Michael, is a full-time professional trainer and rode on the Olympic equestrian team in the 1976, 1992, and 1996 Olympic Games. D.D. previously served as the chair of the capital campaign of the Upland Country Day School in Pennsylvania. She has also served on the board of trustees at Foxcroft, as a trustee and officer of the U.S. Equestrian Team and currently serves as an officer and trustee of the Brandywine River Museum and Conservancy. She is the mother of six children: Michelle Matz, Michael Matz, Jr., Lucy Matz, Alex Matz ’15, Robert Matz ’18, and Arthur Matz ’21.
